What is Notion?

What do you like best about Notion?
I love the ability to nest notes as pages and the flexibility to treat everything as a block. The Kanban borad function is super helpful as well, I use it all the time to track my todo list
Using Notion, is for me, as fun as using WordPress to build a site. There are so many simple areas to use and some little pickles to figure out too. I love that there is awesome support available and a ton of videos on the tube. Building with Notion is a bit like a playground and I really love it.
I have just recently known this platform when I moved on to this new company, and I was impressed by the way it provides answers to my concerns which are all relatively important on the current workload that I have. The whole platform was enggaging, and transparent to the needs of the user, which builds great assistance to my colleagues and me.
What I like best about Notion is the variety of ways information can be formatted, shared and stored paired with clean communication tools. I love the various media types I can include and the number of useful plug-ins grows regularly.
What do you dislike about Notion?
Notion doesn’t have a true spreadsheet function and so far I’ve found only Google Sheets can be embedded, which means we have to go outside Notion for true spreadsheet capability.
Also, the breadth of what Notion can do is super useful but it’s hard to grasp at first so getting set up with really useful naming conventions and search parameters could be better supported to save folks having to back and correct those things once it gets up an running.
The platform itself was very useful, and I couldn’t find an error or a disadvantage of using it. What I love about this more is that it is a user-friendly website that can be easily navigated even by new users that are not used to websites.
It would be awesome if one day, more solid and supported integrations were available, but even still, I love this platform! There are some integrations that I’d really like to use. I can use them and link them to Notion. It’s just that, if I need support for them, I can’t get help from Notion and I have to go directly to the source. I know that Notion is awesome and super helpful, but I can’t say that for other connecting platforms out there. Having all integrations, under one roof and managed & supported by Notion would be awesome. Having said that, I really love Notion and learning about how to make it work just the way I want it to. It really is lots of fun!
There is a bit of a steep learning curve. I find my teamates who aren’t familiar with it have a harder time using it. It would be nice if there was some sort of tutorial
What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?
At home, it helps me keep track of things in my homelab, keeps commands I need to remeber in order and allows me to visualize things much better. At work, I can keep track of projects as we are doing them so we can see what needs to be done yet and it does a great job keeping my to-do list in order and lets me hop into an individual page for each item if I want to go into more detail on a task.
Using Notion is great for me because it means that I am able to create client portals for all of my individual clients to use. So that all important videos and documents and revisions can be safely stored in one place. Having this stuff stored in other ways can be messy and can be hard to find things at times. But using Notion really helps to keep everything super crisp and uber organised.
Mostly, problems with comes to cases which is related to travelperk queries are my concerns which the data and solution is visible to notion. There are also a lot of information regarding how we were being graded on Notion which serves as our tool for reference.
On my team the biggest problems we’re solving with Notion are daily task assignment, daily communications that we want to keep records of (as opposed to Slack which is just ‘in the moment’ and not great for tracking backwards, and recordkeeping. My team checks our daily page throughout the day and drops notes there for standups and to communicate with each other so we don’t lose ideas and feedback like we used to. They’re also more productive because expectations for each day are transparent and clear. In addition, we don’t waste time searching through multiple sources for historical information. We’ve set up some great recordkeeping that we’re all using consistently. I also love that these tools can be modified as we use them so as our needs change, it’s really easy to adjust with very little work.

“Without recurring tasks and less task-oriented features it was a tough call to make. I wanted it to work so badly.”
